Mindsight Home Dock is a timed locking dock designed to help families create calmer screen-free routines. Place phones, tablets, or other small distractions inside, set the timer, choose a lock mode, and close the lid.
Mindsight is mainly designed for phones, tablets, handheld gaming devices, and other small items you want out of reach for a set amount of time. Families often use it during dinner, homework, bedtime, family games, or quiet evenings at home.
No. Mindsight works best when the whole family participates. Many parents use it for their own phones too, so screen-free time feels like a shared routine rather than a punishment.
No. Mindsight works without an app or subscription. The timer and lock modes are controlled directly on the device.
We recommend testing Mindsight while it is empty. Try a short timer or simple lock setting first so you understand the buttons, lock modes, and unlock process before placing important items inside.
Remove the soft plastic ring around the top lip of the lockbox. The battery compartment is underneath this ring. Remove the battery cover, insert the included 2 AA batteries, replace the battery cover, and place the soft plastic ring back around the top of the lockbox.
Mindsight fits approximately 3-4 phones with standard cases, depending on the size of each device and case.
The interior space is approximately 9 x 4.75 x 2.75 inches.
Mindsight may fit some small tablets or compact devices, depending on their dimensions. Larger tablets may not fit. We recommend checking your device size against the interior dimensions before use.
Yes, but thick cases, wallet cases, grips, and pop sockets can reduce capacity. Make sure the lid closes naturally without needing to force it.
Overfilling can create pressure against the lid and make unlocking harder. Leave enough room for the lid to close comfortably.
Mindsight has three modes: Standard Mode, Fortress Mode, and Lockbox Only.
Standard Mode is a timer-based mode that gives you more flexibility. Set the timer, close the lid, and Mindsight will keep your items out of reach. If needed, Standard Mode can be opened before the timer ends using the device unlock process.
Fortress Mode is timer-based and designed for full commitment. Once the countdown begins, the box is designed to stay locked until the timer ends.
Lockbox Only lets you use Mindsight without setting a timer. It is useful when you want a simple way to keep items out of reach for a while.
If you are new to Mindsight, start with Standard Mode so you can get used to the device. Once you are comfortable, you can use Fortress Mode for moments when you want a stronger boundary.
For everyday family routines, many families start with Standard Mode. Fortress Mode may be useful for moments when everyone agrees to a clear screen-free block, such as dinner, homework, or bedtime.
Fortress Mode is best when you are sure you want Mindsight to stay locked until the timer ends. Use extra care when selecting Fortress Mode and avoid locking away anything you may need urgently.
In Standard Mode and Fortress Mode, the timer can be set from 1 minute to 30 days.
In Standard Mode, Mindsight can be opened before the timer ends using the device unlock process. In Fortress Mode, Mindsight is designed to remain locked until the countdown ends.
If it was a genuine mistake or emergency, contact our support team as soon as possible at support@mindsight.com. Fortress Mode is designed for commitment, so we recommend starting with short timers while learning the device.
After setting a timer, the device begins a short confirmation countdown before locking. Pressing a button during this countdown can cancel the timer and require you to set it again.
If the confirmation countdown is still active, you can cancel and reset the timer. Once the box is locked, the options available depend on the mode you selected.
Keep it simple and positive. Mindsight is not meant to be a punishment. It is a shared place for phones to pause during moments like dinner, homework, bedtime, or family time.
Start with short, predictable routines. For example, use it during dinner or a 30-45 minute homework block. It usually works best when the rule is calm, consistent, and shared by the adults too.
Yes, if possible. Mindsight feels more fair when parents participate. It helps screen-free time feel like a family routine instead of a rule only for kids.
Dinner is a good place to start. Put phones in before sitting down, choose the mode that fits your family, and keep the routine consistent.
If the confirmation countdown is still active, you can cancel and reset the timer. Once the box is locked, the options available depend on the mode you selected.
